A disastrous fire swept through Galveston soon after Koch finished his view, and someone with the M. Strickland & Co. in Galveston, perhaps the founder’s son, John C. Strickland, copied a large portion of Koch’s view, with no credit given, and published this view showing in red the portion of the city destroyed by the fire.
